Greetings, I’m Carmen Veal! A native of Hartford, Connecticut, Business Events Strategist and Goal Digger. A journey through therapeutic cultural awareness and special needs mommy-hood led to designing a life I imagined.
What Got Me Here
While trying to immerse myself within the chaotic world that is the fashion industry (with sprinkles of testing my hand in other industries like corporate finance, nonprofit, social work, interior decorating and furniture buying), I fell in love with creating opportunities for individuals to connect. This journey eventually led to my love for event production. Events are a great way to create authentic experiences between a brand/group and individuals.
Where It All Started
At age 21 I quit a well-paying salaried 9-5 job with 401k and benefits to work in the mental health field. Within a year my reality took a turn when my daughter’s health declined, forcing me to lose a full-time position at the hospital I was employed. I became a full-time special needs caregiver for my daughter who’s needs were far too complex for me to commit to traditional employment. This new reality was incredibly challenging to accept, forcing me into depression.
What got me there didn’t have the power to keep me there.
Refusing to settle and continue on a downward spiral, I decided I would no longer settle for a restricted life limited by a poor mentality. I set a goal then created an action plan to turn my life around.
Within a year my daughter and I were getting the therapeutic support we needed. I proceeded to take steps to create a business that would not be reliant on location dependency. I read books and took online classes to help me launch and grow personally and within my business. My drive (for as long as I can remember) was feeling I was created for a special purpose.
Fast forward to today, I make a living and a life as an Event Strategist which is a company I built from the ground up. Not only does it fulfill my life’s purpose, it also allows me to work from the comfort of my own home and give my daughter the love and attention she is deserving of.
My Blog Story & Journey
At an attempt to live a healthier lifestyle I cut off all of my relaxed hair and adopted a pescatarian/mostly plant based diet. During my life transition I started a virtual diary to document my journey of embracing natural living. I shared this journey on my blog and within a year built an audience of over 7,000 women who could relate to my story.
It was inspiring in itself. Women from around the world sent messages and emails sharing their story and seeking my support. The most frequently asked question from my subscribers became “how did you do it”. I decided to use my professional experience as an event strategist to create life-enhancing events that would allow me to share my life’s progression in intimate detail.
Taking things a step further, I created a virtual academy to offer the same online. Today I offer virtual Goal Digging Women courses and experiential events. A collective opportunity for women interested in learning how I grew myself, my business, blog and brand using strategies that are a staple in my own personal and professional growth.
Work Life Alignment
My personal life which is my most intimate and top priority is being mom to my special needs 14-year-old Princess Sania (read more about that HERE).
To keep sane throughout this busy world I align my energy and space with travel with my love, yoga, meditation, eco-therapy, and sharing beautiful vibes and positive energy with family and friends.
